A local group is holding weekly rallies to help energize local voters. They are gathering every Saturday morning from 10:30 to noon at the North Y in Madras to encourage community participation in the upcoming general election. These weekly rallies will run through October 31st. Everyone is welcome to join.
Crooked River Ranch Community Wide Yard Sales are happening today and tomorrow from 8am to 4pm. Maps are available in the informational kiosk on Chinook/Badger, The Old Fire Hall and the CRR Administration Building.
The Rip City Rally is coming to Madras on Wednesday, September 16th. Join the Portland Trail Blazers and Moda Health for the Rip City Fair with activities for all ages from 4-6pm at Madras City Hall. The event will feature games & prizes, basketball clinics & shooting contests, Blaze the Trail Cat and the 1977 Championship Trophy.
Joy Harjo, the 23rd US Poet Laureate, will present an evening of poetry and conversation at the Wyam Youth Center on Wednesday, September 16. She will give a reading and share stories about the struggles, challenges and joys of coming of age, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. The program will begin at 5pm.
The Warm Springs Head Start Open House is Wednesday, September 16th from 5-7:30pm at ECE.
Warm Springs CPS’s annual energy assistance will be available to up to 300 applicants on Friday, September 18th from 1-4pm at the old school gym. To be eligible, you must bring a printed hard copy of your most recent light bill. They will NOT accept digital copies, emails or phone apps so be sure to print your bill before you go. Payment processing takes time so please be patient with staff and volunteers.
Kah-Nee-Ta Resort is having a First Responder Appreciation Day every Tuesday through September. They’ll give complementary resort admission for firefighters, first responders, law enforcement and their families. And EVERY Wednesday through September there will be free admission for Tribal members.
Tenants of Warm Springs Housing Authority who require emergency repairs after hours or on weekends/holidays need to contact Warm Springs PD Dispatch and request Housing’s on-call service. A qualifying emergency service would be a broken water line, backed up sewer, any electrical issues and kicked-in exterior doors. All other non-emergency work orders can be taken care of on the next business day.
The Warm Springs Police Department has temporarily contracted with Frontier Regional 911 to assist with dispatch during overnight hours. Frontier is handling all 911 and emergency dispatch services for the Warm Springs PD between the hours of 6pm and 6am. During these hours, community members who need non-emergency assistance from the police department should call 541-384-2080.
