The Madras Community Food Pantry on Culver Highway is open from 10AM to 1PM. Meanwhile, the Life Raft Food Pantry at 401 5th Street in Maupin runs from 11AM to 3PM, and the Dufur Community Food Pantry inside Dufur School is open from 4 to 6.

The Thursday Market is today from 10:30am – 2pm at the Campus Pavillion.  It is the last Thursday Market of the season and there will be a farm from Redmond set up with fresh produce you can purchase.  They take SNAP and WIC vouchers.  Vendors are welcome to come set up.  It’s first come, first serve for available tables and chairs.  KWSO will be there with a chance to win a KWSO prize.

At the Senior Center – there is Senior Fitness Class this morning 10:45 to 11:45 with a lunch for participants after.

Warm Springs Suicide Prevention & Lines for Life are hosting a glow walk in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Awareness Day this evening. Registration will begin at 7:15pm at the campus pavilion and the walk starts at 7:30. There will be pizza and a presentation after.

Joy Harjo, the 23rd US Poet Laureate, will present an evening of poetry and conversation at the Wyam Youth Center on Wednesday, September 16. She will give a reading and share stories about the struggles, challenges and joys of coming of age, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. The program will begin at 5pm.

Warm Springs CPS’s annual energy assistance will be available to up to 300 applicants on Friday, September 18th from 1-4pm at the old school gym. To be eligible, you must bring a printed hard copy of your most recent light bill. They will NOT accept digital copies, emails or phone apps so be sure to print your bill before you go. Payment processing takes time so please be patient with staff and volunteers.

Nature Kids outings are for kids and families to explore the wonders of the natural world at a local park. Each outing includes a hands-on activity. Nature Kids is offered on the third Saturday of the month through October at Sahalee Park in Madras. The next outing is Saturday, September 19th 9:30-11am. The theme is Wings of Wonder! All Nature Kids are free and ideal for families with kids ages 5-10. Registration is helpful but not required. Visit DeschutesLandTrust.org to learn more.

Division of Child Support employees come to Warm Springs once a month at the DHS office to provide in-person assistance to complete forms and answer questions about child support. They are there on the first Tuesday of every month and their next visit will be on Tuesday, October 6th from 1-3pm. Walk-ins and appointments are welcome.
