- Tribal Council Agenda: This morning – Secretary-Treasurer/COO Update; September Agenda, Travel Delegations & Review of Minutes; and Draft Resolutions. This afternoon – Enrollments; IHS Update; Health & Human Services Update; and Managed Care Update.
- The summer art camp for youth continues today and tomorrow from 9am to 3pm in the Community Center social hall. The community is invited to attend for dinner and an art showcase on Wednesday (8/190 starting at 5:30.
- The Warm Springs Commodities Food Bank, located at 4217 Holliday Street in the Industrial Park, is open 10 until 1 today.
- The Madras Community Food Pantry at 370 SW Culver Highway is open 10-1 today.
- COIC is holding a Statewide Transportation Improvement Fund or STIF Advisory Committee meeting today in Warm Springs from 11:30-1 at the Family Resource Center.
- Today is First Responder Appreciation Day at Kah-Nee-Ta Hot Springs Resort. It’s every Tuesday through September. They’ll give complementary resort admission for firefighters, first responders, law enforcement and their families. And EVERY Wednesday through September there will be free admission for Tribal members.
- Warm Springs Community Health Program has a hand sewing circle that meets every Tuesday at noon in the I H S atrium. Lunch and supplies are provided for participants.
- Today is Senior Lunch from noon to 1 at the Warm Springs Senior Building.
- The Warm Springs STRONG Youth Wellness Program meets today at the old school gym. 3rd through 5th grade kids attend from 1-2:30 and 6th through 8th grade youth from 3-4:30. They’ve got free logo shirts for participants.
- The NeighborImpact Mobile Food Pantry will be open at the Culver High School Ag Shop Parking Lot this afternoon from 3-4.
- Warm Springs Prevention is hosting the Wings Track Meet today at the K-8 Track. Registration kicks off at 5pm, and events get underway at 6. There are age divisions for—2 to 5, 6 to 9, and 10 and up. Every participant gets a t-shirt and a medal.
- A Fish & Wildlife Memorial Dinner will take place today at the Hehe Longhouse. It will start at 5pm with 1 seven, followed by dinner and a brief giveaway. This is a release for hunters and fishermen for the upcoming seasons due to the recent losses of chiefs and relatives serving on the Fish & Wildlife Committee.
- The SriPonya Collective invites individuals returning home from prison to Brothers & Sisters in Progress, a peer-led re-entry support group. Connect with a strong community network, access vital resources, learn goal-setting strategies, and gain eligibility for peer support specialist scholarships. Papalaxsimisha’s pre-college summer series continues this Wednesday (8/19) at the old school cafeteria. Dinner is provided at 5:30 and the session is from 6-7:30. It’s a chance to get a head start on your college journey – learn about financial aid, applying to college, scholarships and get support on your path to college.
The Community Wellness Center has a trip for youth coming up this Thursday (8/20) to Suttle Lake. They will leave at 9am and need to bring swimming clothes and lunch. Call the Recreation office at 541-553-3243 for more information.
Warm Springs Community Health’s next mobile medical clinic will be this Thursday (8/20) from 10:30am to 2pm at the Thursday Market. Other upcoming dates are August 25th at the Shelter Dining Hall; and August 27th at the Simnasho Fire Station. At the mobile medical clinics, patients can be seen for medical problems, medications, STI tests, and – with an appointment – medical procedures.
