Funeral Arrangements for Francelia (Fritz) Miller – Dressing is today (9/15) at 2pm at the Simnasho Longhouse. Burial is Wednesday (9/16) at 9am at Simnasho Cemetery. All denominations are welcome.

The Reservation Impact Food Bank at the Warm Springs Commodities Warehouse and the Madras Community Food Pantry on Culver Highway are both open today from 10-1. Later in the afternoon, the NeighborImpact Culver Mobile Pantry will be available at 710 5th Street from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.

Today is First Responder Appreciation Day at Kah-Nee-Ta. Every Tuesday through September they give complementary resort admission for firefighters, first responders, law enforcement and their families. Every Wednesday through September is free admission for Tribal members.

Today is Senior Lunch from noon to 1 at the Warm Springs Senior Building. On the menu: goulash, mixed green salad, whole wheat bread & fresh fruit.

Warm Springs Community Health Program has a hand sewing circle that meets every Tuesday at noon in the I H S atrium. Lunch and supplies are provided for participants.

Madras White Buff Boys Soccer teams have home games vs. Sisters today. JV plays at 4 and Varsity at 6.

Warm Springs K-8 Eagles Football will play at the at the Culver Jamboree this afternoon and WSK8 Cross Country hosts all Central Oregon District Schools for a meet at Juniper Hills Park today at 4.

The SriPonya Collective invites individuals returning home from prison to Brothers & Sisters in Progress, a peer-led re-entry support group. Connect with a strong community network, access vital resources, learn goal-setting strategies, and gain eligibility for peer support specialist scholarships. Joy Harjo, former US Poet Laureate, will present an evening of poetry and conversation at the Wyam Youth Center Wednesday (9/16). She will give a reading and share stories about the struggles, challenges and joys of coming of age, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. The program will begin at 5pm.

Warm Springs Head Start Open House is Wednesday (9/16) from 5-7:30pm at ECE.

The Rip City Rally is coming to Madras on Wednesday (9/16). Join the Portland Trail Blazers and Moda Health for the Rip City Fair with activities for all ages from 4-6pm at Madras City Hall. The event will feature games & prizes, basketball clinics & shooting contests, Blaze the Trail Cat and the 1977 Championship Trophy.

On Thursday (9/17) a Rip City Youth Hoops Rally – Basketball Camp will be held at the Warm Springs Community Wellness Center Gym from 10:30-noon. All youth ages 6 years to15 years old can participate. Youth 16-18 may register as mentors. Registration is required by parents and forms available at the Community Center office. Parents are responsible for approving child participation away from school. Day of Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. Kids should bring Gym Shoes, proper comfortable apparel and motivation to learn basketball fundamentals for all youth.

Come celebrate KWSO’s 40th anniversary at our open house on Friday, September 18th from 10am to 2pm. Everyone is welcome to take a tour, have a snack and get a KWSO t-shirt.

Metolius City Hall is inviting community members to its Dog Days of Summer fundraising event this Saturday (9/19) at 6pm at the Rails & Tails Dog Park in Metolius. They are asking for donations to Rockn EZ Rescue Ranch – Pedigree dog food, collars, leashes, treats, and even cash. They will have free hot dogs for the humans and a splash pool the dogs!

The 2027 Warm Springs Tribal Employee Open Enrollment Period runs from October 1st through the 29th. Be sure to confirm your email by September 25th to receive your CTWS.Ease.com log-in details and attend the in-person or virtual informational meetings on October 13th and 14th. Warm Springs Higher Education Department is reminding tribal scholarship students that they should apply for the Oregon Tribal Student Grant. It can pay for most or all public college-related expenses not covered by other grants for students pursuing their first Associate, Bachelor’s, or Graduate degree. Students who have already applied are encouraged to make sure that their application is complete and accepted by the September 30th deadline. Visit OregonStudentAid.gov for more information.
