At Madras High School, freshmen start school this morning at 8. All grade levels start back on Thursday (9/10).

For Warm Springs K-8, grades 1 through 8 begin school today. Kindergarten families are having individual family conferences today and will have split student start days on Thursday & Friday (9/10-11). All kindergarten classes start on Monday, September 14.

Warm Springs Head Start’s first day of school will be Monday, September 14th. Head Start our Open House is set for Wednesday, September 16th from 5 to 7:30pm.

The Warm Springs Boys & Girls Club opens the afterschool program today. It runs 2:50-5:30 weekdays. Registration is available on the parent portal at www.bgcsc.org. Click on “register” and “create account.”

Tribal Council Agenda: Tribal Member Concerns this morning

The Madras Community Food Pantry at 370 SW Culver Highway is open from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Later in the afternoon, the Madras Free Food Market at the same location starts signups at 4:00 PM with doors opening at 4:30 PM until food runs out. In addition, the Life Raft Food Pantry at 401 5th Street in Maupin is open from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Today is Tribal Appreciation Day at Kah-Nee-Ta Resort. EVERY Wednesday through September there will be free admission for Tribal members.

There is a senior lunch today at noon at the Warm Springs Senior Center dining area. Senior meals are free for all elders age 60 and older. Folks can join the seniors for lunch – it’s $1 for Youth, $5 for adults or you can assist with clean-up after the meal.  Today they will serve baked salmon with mashed cauliflower, veggies, bread & fruit.

The Thursday Market is tomorrow from 10:30am – 2pm at the Campus Pavillion.  It is the last Thursday Market of the season and there will be a farm from Redmond set up with fresh produce you can purchase.  They take SNAP and WIC vouchers.  Vendors are welcome to come set up.  It’s first come, first serve for available tables and chairs.  KWSO will be there with a chance to win a KWSO prize.

Warm Springs Suicide Prevention & Lines for Life are hosting a glow walk in recognition of World Suicide Prevention Awareness Day on Thursday (9/10). Registration will begin at 7:15pm at the campus pavilion and the walk starts at 7:30. There will be pizza and a presentation after.

Meetings in each district have been scheduled for updates on Enterprise Revenue Projects. The Agency meeting will be on Tuesday, September 15th at the Agency Longhouse. The Simnasho meeting will be Wednesday, September 16th at the Simnasho Longhouse. The Seekseequa meeting will be on Thursday, August 24th at the Seekseequa Fire Hall. Meals will be provided at 6pm and meetings start at 7.

Fall term GED classes in Warm Springs begin Monday September 21st at the Education Building. You can register during the first week of classes. Classes will be Mondays and Wednesdays noon til 3 at the Warm Springs Education Building and 3-7 at the COCC Madras Campus.

Warm Springs Higher Education Department is reminding tribal scholarship students that they should apply for the Oregon Tribal Student Grant. It can pay for most or all public college-related expenses not covered by other grants for students pursuing their first Associate, Bachelor’s, or Graduate degree. Students who have already applied are encouraged to make sure that their application is complete and accepted by the September 30th deadline.
