KWSO Develops Warm Springs Community Resource List

KWSO Develops Warm Springs Community Resource List

KWSO has developed a new Warm Springs Community Resource List to make it easier for community members to find local services, programs, contact information and other resources in one place.

The resource list was developed as part of KWSO’s response to the 2025 Information Ecosystem Assessment. One of the key findings of the assessment was that “There is no centralized, consistently updated directory of services, events, and resources.”

The new 14-page resource list is designed to help fill that gap by bringing together information from a wide range of community, tribal, state and federal services. It includes sections covering food assistance and meals, housing, social services, medical and mental health services, senior citizens, youth and families, schools, higher education, employment and training, language and culture, transportation, tribal enterprises, local businesses and nonprofits.

The directory also includes contact information for Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs departments, Indian Health Service, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and other federal services.

KWSO Station Manager Sue Matters says hard copies of the Community Resource List will be provided to the Warm Springs Head Start program, where they can be shared with families.

A PDF version of the Community Resource List can be found  HERE providing another way for folks  to access the information.

The list is intended to be a useful, practical resource for people who may need help finding a particular service or contact. It includes important numbers for emergency services, food assistance, housing, health care, counseling, family programs and other services.

The project builds on KWSO’s ongoing role as a source of local information for Warm Springs. KWSO’s mission is to provide high-quality radio and online content that delivers local news and information; promotes education, cultural knowledge and language preservation; and raises awareness of social, health and safety issues.

KWSO is owned and operated by the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs and functions as a department of the Tribal Government’s Health and Human Services Branch. The station receives an annual tribal budget allocation and supplements its funding through program underwriting, sustaining memberships, donations, fundraisers, tower leases and service fees.

The Community Resource List is another way KWSO is working to make reliable local information easier to find and use.

KWSO is asking organizations and programs included in the directory to provide updated information when contact numbers, services or other details change. The resource list identifies KWSO as its creator and invites feedback by email at kwso@wstribes.org.

The goal is to continue improving the list so it can serve as a centralized and useful source of information for Warm Springs community members.
